This week in my dressing room diaries, the hubby Zack & I had the most peculiar Uber driver on our way to a bbq in downtown Phoenix. After muttering about her job history for 5 mins she finally got interesting when she filled us in on her experiences as a Sales Associate in the men’s department at Nordstrom…
“Uber Sheeba” as I like to call her spoke of how a man after trying thousands of $$ of clothing soiled $800.00 of it to feed his sick fetish. First of all Eww & secondly, who does that? Uber Sheeba went on to tell us about a couple who regularly came in & got off on arguing in front of the Sales Associate then when the chance arose, the girlfriend would sneek into the dressing room her boyfriend occupied & have loud make up sex. They finally got caught & security escorted them out! Golly gumdrops there are some freaks out there! Lmao!
Even though it’s scorching outside I wanted to start bringing your attention to the pre-fall trends for 2017 as with fashion were always a season ahead. A big trend for pre-fall that’s started to trickle into the luxury brand I run my business through is Tiers or as I like to call luxe layers!
When I think of Tiers I think of layers on a cake but that’s because I LOVE cake, Yum! But I wanted to see what Tiers actually means in regarding fashion. According to the dictionary Tiers is..”one of a number of successively overlapping ruffles or flounces in a garment”. I mean watching Queen Bey in the yellow Robert Cavalli gown for her lemonade debut video smashing sh*t up is a bloody brilliant depiction of the trend in its full glory! All hail Queen Bey!
Splurge Option for my petite ladies this is the perfect trend for you as it adds a little more shape to your form whilst showing a quirky edge so go for it full on! I selected this dress as it’s so fun with the reverse SearSucker print (being red & not blue) the Ellie Tiered strapless dress from the brand Prose & Poetry $450.00, paired with Stephanie Kantis Tier DoorKnocker earrings $285.00, Splash flat brow catty sunnies $30.00 from Topshop & my favorite Dolly two part sandals $48.00 adds an extra pop of color!
Save Option for my curvy ladies you must be careful with the Tiers trend as worn incorrectly it can add bulk to your form. I tried a dress on & it made me look like a cake topper! I would suggest breaking up the Tiers like I did below & in my feature pic as a curvy lady it’s more flattering. My entire outfit is from Zara one of my favorite places to find bargains. The top was marked down at $35.99 & the skirt $19.99 both STEALS! I paired them with my Topshop Metallic & white platforms $60.00 as I’m constantly on the go for work.Topped off with my Rose gold apple watch which I never leave the house without as it’s linked to my medical device (dexcom cgm) that helps monitor my blood sugar. Lastly a piece of felt fabric I cut & created as a choker. However if you are wanting the dress option & are stubborn like me try to keep the focus of the Tiers at the bottom of the dress as it’s beaucoup flattering.
Splurge option 2 For my medical device wearers the Tiers trend can be overwhelming. It may hinder your medical device’s functionality for my pumpers especially (Medtronic wearers) you may loose tubing in the midst of all those layers so be forewarned. Omnipod wearers your fine!! I suggest again breaking up the trend. This peach blouse really spoke to me with its Tiered sleeve from Topshop $55.00 paired with these Rag & Bone Dre Step Hem Distressed Capris, Marni Mare embroidered beach hat $395.00 just screams summer holiday. I thought these Oyster sunnies by Chanel (mucho expensive) tied the outfit together with lastly these Alexandre Birman Clarita Leather Ankle-Tie sandals $695.00 (THE DREAM)
Save VS Splurge Summary Luxe layers is an interesting trend & to be honest not one of my favorites as it’s not complimentary to my body type head to toe but each to their own. If you love it invest in a good piece. If not fashion is recyclable so go with more of an affordable piece.The best way to try something new is to wear it with confidence, if you have that nothing else matters…
